Well how much post-race analysis is there for a 10k race. The gun goes of and then you run. You don’t need complicated fueling and hydration strategies. There’s plenty of glycogen and water on board that you shouldn’t even need to slow down for the water stops.
I did make a newbie mistake, though. I started out much too far back in the mass start queue. I spent most of the first mile dodging, weaving, running up on the curb and back down again. Next time, start closer to the front!

OK, so I am relatively new to running. At the time of this event, I had been running about 10 months. I was really pleased with my performance. I did a negative split run. I felt good and comfortable all throughout. But who are these 45-49 year-olds that are running a 5:30/mi. to 5:40/mi. pace? Have they been running for years and years? Is there any chance a new runner could ever get to that kind of pace? I am impressed.

Top 12 finishers for the 45-49 year old age group. Who are those guys at the top?

All in all, a well organized race and a lot of fun. Happy with the results, but room for improvement as always.
